Meet the Mirabel Tote
There’s something especially satisfying about working on a pattern test - getting to explore a new design, problem-solve along the way, and watch it come together into something both practical and beautiful. This time, I had the pleasure of testing the Mirabel Tote pattern by Bagstock Designs.
From the very first cut, I could tell this was going to be a bag I’d reach for often.
I chose a striking floral print from Ruby Star Society, paired with a black vinyl for contrast. The combination feels just the right balance of bold and timeless - a little bit eye-catching, but still incredibly wearable day-to-day. The rose gold hardware adds a soft warmth that ties everything together.
What I love most about the Mirabel Tote is how thoughtfully designed it is. It’s one of those bags that looks polished on the outside but is genuinely practical to use.
The enclosed top zipper keeps everything secure (always a must), while the exterior zip pocket is perfect for those everyday essentials — phone, keys, lip balm. Inside, there’s a really satisfying level of organisation, with both slip pockets and a zip pocket so everything has its place.
The shoulder straps are comfortable for everyday use, and the option to add a crossbody strap makes it even more versatile - ideal for busy days when you need your hands free.
In terms of size, it sits in that sweet spot: roomy enough to carry what you need, without feeling oversized.
Finished size:
36.8cm wide (at base) × 29cm high × 12.7cm deep
(14½” W × 11½” H × 5” D)
This was such an enjoyable pattern to test, and one I can already see myself making again in different fabric combinations.
If you’re someone who appreciates a bag that blends structure, function, and a bit of personality, the Mirabel Tote is definitely worth a look.
